SAINTS SIGN TIGHT END FOSTER MOREAU TO A 3-YEAR DEAL

Tight end Foster Moreau has signed a significant three-year, $12 million deal with the New Orleans Saints, with $8 million of the contract guaranteed. This signing brings Moreau back to his native New Orleans, where he attended Jesuit High School before playing college football at LSU. Selected as a fourth-round pick by the Raiders in 2019, Moreau has shown promise throughout his career.

However, the offseason took an unexpected turn for Moreau when he underwent a physical with the Saints, and their medical staff diagnosed him with Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects white blood cells and the lymphatic system. Faced with such a challenging diagnosis, Moreau was prepared to step away from football this season. However, he received some positive news about his condition, allowing him to make a return to the field in 2023.

The addition of Moreau to the Saints' tight end room is significant, particularly considering the departure of Adam Trautman, who was traded from the Saints to the Broncos as part of a move to secure a higher draft position this year. Moreau's experience and skill set make him a valuable asset to the team, as evidenced by his 91 career catches, 1,107 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns.

Additionally, Moreau brings a unique advantage to the Saints, as he already has established chemistry with their new quarterback, Derek Carr, from their time together with the Raiders. This existing connection between the two players could prove to be a vital asset for the Saints' offense, allowing for smoother integration and improved performance on the field.

Overall, Foster Moreau's signing with the New Orleans Saints marks a significant moment in his career. Overcoming the challenges presented by his cancer diagnosis, Moreau has demonstrated his resilience and determination to continue playing the sport he loves. With his return to football, the Saints gain a talented and experienced tight end who can contribute both as a receiver and a blocker, further strengthening their offensive arsenal. As a native of New Orleans, Moreau's homecoming adds an additional layer of meaning to this signing, as he has the opportunity to represent his hometown team and make a lasting impact on the field.
