Saints Secure Key Player with Shaheed's One-Year Extension

In a significant move to bolster their roster, the New Orleans Saints have re-signed one of their standout performers for at least another season. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team has finalized a one-year contract extension with exclusive rights free agent Rashid Shaheed, a receiver and return specialist.

The new agreement will see Shaheed earn $5.2 million for the upcoming season.

Shaheed’s impact on the field has been substantial. Last season, he earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors as a return specialist. He showcased his exceptional skills by averaging 13.6 yards per punt return and scoring a touchdown, while also averaging 21.3 yards per kick return.

In addition to his return duties, Shaheed contributed significantly to the Saints' offense. He caught 46 passes, amassing 719 yards and five touchdowns. His versatility was further demonstrated by his seven rushes for 37 yards.

Shaheed’s journey to the NFL began as an undrafted free agent from Weber State in 2022. Since then, he has made a notable impact, recording 74 receptions for 1,207 yards and seven touchdowns over 27 games, including 14 starts.

With this new contract, the Saints are ensuring that one of their pivotal players remains a key part of their strategy as they look ahead to the next season.
