IS IT A MAKE IT OR BREAK IT YEAR FOR SAINTS HEAD COACH DENNIS ALLEN?

This year is undoubtedly a make it or break it year for Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen. After a disappointing season in which the Saints finished with a 7-10 record, Allen's coaching abilities are under scrutiny. Looking at his overall coaching record, which stands at 15-38, including two 4-12 seasons as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2012 to 2014, it's clear that his tenure has been marked by underwhelming performances.

Before joining the Saints, Allen faced a tough period with the Raiders, where he was eventually fired after an 0-4 start to the 2014 season. These results, coupled with his past struggles, cast a shadow of doubt over his ability to lead a team to success. However, last season presented a glimmer of hope for Allen when he was hired by the Saints after long-time Head Coach Sean Payton stepped away. One significant challenge Allen faced in his first season with the Saints was working with a coaching staff that consisted largely of holdovers from the Payton era. This transitional period may have posed difficulties in terms of implementing his own coaching philosophies and establishing a clear identity for the team. The lack of continuity within the coaching staff could have potentially hindered the development and performance of the players on the field.

To overcome these obstacles, Dennis Allen has taken matters into his own hands this season. With the opportunity to assemble his own staff, he has carefully selected coaches who align with his vision and can bring fresh perspectives to the team. Adding Joe Woods as his new defensive coordinator and Marcus Robertson as the teams new secondary coach to name a few. This move indicates a willingness to take responsibility for the team's performance and highlights Allen's determination to turn things around. Allen also made a bold move in free agency by signing Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. This reunion between Allen and Carr holds special significance as Allen was the coach of the Raiders back in 2014 when he drafted Carr. By bringing Carr to the Saints, Allen aims to bolster the team's offense and enhance their scoring capabilities. Last season, the Saints averaged a modest 19 points per game, and Allen believes that Carr's experience and talent will play a crucial role in improving their offensive output.

Additionally, the return of wide receiver Michael Thomas from injury further adds to the excitement surrounding the Saints' offense. Thomas, known for his exceptional route-running and reliable hands, is a dynamic playmaker who can significantly elevate the team's passing game. With Carr at the helm and Thomas back in action, the Saints' offensive potential becomes even more promising. Furthermore, Dennis Allen has been proactive in free agency, strategically adding other talented players to bolster both sides of the football. By addressing the team's needs in free agency, Allen demonstrates his commitment to building a well-rounded roster capable of competing at the highest level. With the combination of Carr's arrival, Thomas' return, and the additional acquisitions made by Allen, the Saints are poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season and potentially improve upon their offensive struggles of the past.

The pressure on Dennis Allen to deliver results this year is immense. With a disappointing record and a track record that leaves much to be desired, he must prove his capabilities as a head coach. The organization and fans are eagerly awaiting signs of improvement and progress under his leadership. Failure to show significant improvement and achieve a winning record this season could ultimately lead to a change in coaching personnel for the Saints. Despite the challenges and scrutiny, Dennis Allen has an opportunity to prove his doubters wrong. This make it or break it year presents him with a chance to demonstrate his coaching prowess, adaptability, and ability to lead the Saints to success. The team's performance this season will undoubtedly reflect on his coaching abilities and determine whether he can secure a long-term future with the organization.

The upcoming season is of utmost importance for Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen. With a lackluster coaching record and a disappointing previous season, the pressure is on for him to turn things around. This year presents an opportunity for him to establish his own identity with a newly assembled coaching staff and demonstrate his capabilities as a head coach. Ultimately, the team's performance this season will determine whether Allen can secure his position or if the Saints will be forced to seek a new leader for the future.
