Golden Eagles Soar in Second Half: Southern Miss Dominates Southeastern Louisiana 35-10

In a thrilling Saturday night matchup, Southern Miss flexed their second-half muscle, overcoming a close contest to secure a 35-10 victory over Southeastern Louisiana. The Golden Eagles, now 1-1, broke away in the third and fourth quarters with explosive plays that sealed their win.

The Lions (0-2) held their own in the first half, trailing by just four points at the break with the score 14-10. But it was Southern Miss' ground game that swung the momentum. Rodrigues Clark powered in a crucial 1-yard touchdown run, putting the Golden Eagles up for good midway through the third quarter.

The real fireworks came in the final period when Southern Miss unleashed two game-breaking plays. Defensive back Dylan Lawrence electrified the crowd with a 63-yard interception return for a touchdown, and Kenyon Clay followed up with a blistering 70-yard run to the end zone, leaving Southeastern Louisiana reeling.

Quarterback Tate Rodemaker, a transfer from Florida State, led Southern Miss through the air, completing 18 of 33 passes for 179 yards and two touchdown strikes. Wideout Larry Simmons made his presence felt, racking up 100 yards on five receptions.

For Southeastern Louisiana, quarterback Eli Sawyer struggled to find a rhythm, completing 21 of 39 passes for 153 yards and throwing an interception. Antonio Martin Jr. was a bright spot for the Lions, grinding out 93 rushing yards on 15 carries, including their lone touchdown.

In the end, Southern Miss’ strong defense and timely offensive explosions proved too much for Southeastern Louisiana, as the Golden Eagles soared to a comfortable victory.
