Dennis Allen: No More Excuses in 2023 for the Saints

As the NFL offseason comes to a close and the excitement for the upcoming season builds, it's hard to ignore the growing skepticism surrounding the New Orleans Saints and their head coach, Dennis Allen. While fans and analysts eagerly anticipate the action on the field, many are already making predictions and projections for the 32 NFL teams. Unfortunately for the Saints, a prevailing sentiment seems to be that they are in for another underwhelming year, reminiscent of their 7-10 season in 2022. But is this skepticism warranted? Let's delve into why Dennis Allen has no excuses in 2023 and why it's time for him to prove the doubters wrong.

The Saints made significant moves during the offseason to bolster their roster, adding talent and depth to key positions. One of the standout additions was Khalen Saunders, the athletically gifted defensive tackle who arrived from the Kansas City Chiefs. Saunders, with his freakish athleticism, has the potential to be a game-changer on the defensive line and provide much-needed disruption to opposing offenses. Additionally, the Saints used their draft capital wisely, selecting Bryan Bresee, a promising defensive tackle out of Clemson. Early indications suggest that Bresee is poised to make an impact and validate the organization's faith in him.

Perhaps the most talked-about acquisition was the arrival of Derek Carr, who takes over as the Saints' starting quarterback. Carr, widely regarded as a top 15 quarterback in the NFL, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the position. His arrival should provide the Saints with stability and confidence under center, addressing a position that has been in flux since the departure of Drew Brees.

Despite these significant upgrades, it's perplexing that the Saints aren't receiving the credit they deserve for their offseason moves. The doubt that lingers over the team's prospects can largely be attributed to the track record of their head coach, Dennis Allen. With a career record of 15-38 as a head coach, it's understandable that pundits and analysts have reservations about his ability to lead the Saints to success.

However, 2023 is the year where Dennis Allen must shed the doubts and prove his worth. Last season, Allen had to navigate the challenges of inheriting a team with Sean Payton layover coaches on his staff. This season, the Saints organization has given him the autonomy to build his coaching staff and select the players that fit his vision. In essence, the ingredients are all there; now it's up to Allen to cook the dish his way.

No matter how talented a team may look on paper, it ultimately falls on the coach to steer them in the right direction. In 2023, there are no excuses for Dennis Allen. The Saints have provided him with the tools and the support he needs to succeed. The additions of Saunders, Bresee, and Carr should not be taken lightly, and they signify a commitment from the organization to compete at the highest level.

As the season unfolds, Dennis Allen will be under the microscope like never before. The doubters may persist, but this is his opportunity to silence them and prove that he is capable of leading the Saints to the playoffs and contention for a Super Bowl. It's time for Dennis Allen to rise to the occasion, as the Saints and their fans eagerly await a return to the postseason. The ingredients are in place; now it's up to the head coach to deliver the feast of success that the Saints and their supporters have been craving.
