Coastal Carolina Welcomes Chance Miller as New VP for Athletics

Coastal Carolina University has tapped Chance Miller to lead its athletic department, naming him the new Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation. The announcement, made Thursday, comes as CCU aims to elevate its athletic programs even further.

CCU President Michael T. Benson expressed strong confidence in Miller's appointment, saying, "Chance Miller is the right fit and a proven leader with a vision to enhance our championship-caliber athletics program." President Benson highlighted Miller's extensive experience, over a decade of progressive roles at the University of South Carolina (USC) and his previous tenure with the NCAA. "His experience will be invaluable as we build upon the momentum Chanticleer Athletics is experiencing. I am delighted to welcome Chance to Teal Nation."

Miller, who previously served as Senior Deputy Athletics Director at USC, brings a wealth of experience to CCU. At USC, Miller was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the athletic department and oversaw the Gamecocks’ football, swimming, and diving programs. His background also includes significant time with the NCAA, where he worked as an assistant and associate director on the enforcement staff.

In his new role, Miller will oversee Coastal Carolina's athletic programs and university recreation, aiming to continue the success and growth of Chanticleer Athletics.

Miller shared his excitement in a statement: "I am incredibly excited and honored to have been named the vice president for intercollegiate athletics and university recreation at Coastal Carolina University. I want to thank President Benson and the Coastal Carolina board of trustees for their trust and confidence in my ability to lead our athletic department to new heights. I also appreciate the search committee for their dedicated efforts throughout the interview process. My family and I are thrilled to join the vibrant CCU community. With Coastal’s history of success, solid foundation, and the dynamic growth of both the University and the surrounding community, this is truly an ideal place for us. We are ready and excited to begin this journey together with the Teal Nation. Go Chants!”

With his strong background and a clear vision for the future, Miller looks set to take Coastal Carolina’s athletic programs to new heights, continuing the legacy of excellence and passion that Chanticleer Athletics is known for.
