Coastal Bound: Noah Kim Takes His Talents to Coastal Carolina

Quarterback Noah Kim's journey has taken a turn that brings him back to his roots. After an intriguing stint as the starting quarterback for the Michigan State Spartans, Kim has decided to continue his college career closer to home, announcing his commitment to Coastal Carolina.

Hailing from the heart of Virginia, Kim initially joined the Spartans as part of Mark Dantonio's final recruiting class in East Lansing. The early days were marked by patience as Kim redshirted his first season in 2020, eagerly waiting for his moment on the field. That moment finally arrived in 2022 when he stepped in as the backup to then-starting quarterback Payton Thorne, making his mark with 174 yards and three touchdowns across four games.

The turning point for Kim came in the 2023 season after an intense spring quarterback competition. With Thorne's departure to Auburn, the spotlight shifted to Kim, who seized the opportunity and secured the starting job. The first five games showcased Kim's prowess, steering the Spartans to victories against Central Michigan and Richmond. In these triumphs, Kim showcased his accuracy and skill, amassing 571 yards and five touchdowns with an impressive completion rate of 67.9% (36-of-53) and zero interceptions.

Despite the success with the Spartans, Kim felt the calling to embark on a new chapter. Tuesday morning, in a social media post that garnered attention, Kim revealed his commitment to Coastal Carolina. The decision to join the Sun Belt Conference outfit comes as Coastal Carolina concluded the season with a respectable 7-5 record. Now, with the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl on the horizon, Coastal Carolina is gearing up to face San Jose State on December 23.

Kim's move to Coastal Carolina adds an intriguing element to the team's quarterback dynamics. As a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, Kim brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record, making him a valuable addition to Coastal Carolina's arsenal. The Sun Belt Conference can undoubtedly expect fireworks as Kim takes the reins and looks to leave an indelible mark on the Chanticleers' football program.

For Noah Kim, this marks not just a change of scenery, but a return to his roots and an opportunity to shine in familiar territory. As the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl approaches, all eyes will be on Kim as he leads Coastal Carolina into a new era of football prowess.
