CeeDee Lamb's Contract Standoff Could See Him Skip Cowboys' Training Camp

As the calendar flips to July, the contract impasse between the Dallas Cowboys and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb shows no signs of resolution. Lamb, who has been pushing for a lucrative extension, has already made his dissatisfaction clear by skipping the team’s offseason program and racking up over $100,000 in fines for missing mandatory minicamp. With the first training camp practice looming on July 25 in Oxnard, California, there’s growing speculation that Lamb won’t report without a new deal in place.

Lamb’s absence during the spring has been a point of contention, especially as other elite wideouts around the NFL have secured new contracts, setting the market for top receivers. Despite coach Mike McCarthy's comments about Lamb being "engaged" this offseason, the Cowboys have yet to offer a deal that satisfies their three-time Pro Bowl receiver.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Lamb is slated to earn nearly $18 million in 2024 under the fifth-year option, but he could command upwards of $30 million annually on a new deal, with comparables like Justin Jefferson and A.J. Brown pushing the pay envelope higher. Last season, Lamb notched career-highs with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, underlining his value as a cornerstone of the Cowboys’ offense.

As the Cowboys prepare for the upcoming season, Lamb’s contract saga remains a critical storyline. With training camp around the corner, all eyes will be on whether Dallas can reach an agreement that brings their star receiver back into the fold.
